Quick question what year did the Mega Powers go against The Mega Bucks at Summerslam? Don’t cheat by looking it up either. If you can remember this particular match, you will also remember that Demolition (one of the best tag teams ever in WWE history in my eyes-before they brought in Crush that is) went against the Hart Foundation as well. And then there was one of the quickest and dumbest Intercontinental Matches ever between Honky Tonk Man and the Ultimate Warrior.(as reviewed on Raw) Honky deserved way better than what he got for that match. Who didn’t love the Honky Tonk Man back then? Do you think that this year’s Summerslam will be just as memorable as the one that was just discussed? I am hoping it will be, but with all things that are WWE right now, it is very doubtful. I know the writers are trying to put out a better product with some young superstars nowadays. The young guys are the future of the company and I can only hope they will begin to step up and give us fans what we want and that is action and a reason to care about their characters in the ring. Only time will tell. I heard a rumor that the Rock could possibly be the Raw General Manager that no one has seen yet. Dumb idea if he will only show up at Summerslam. Once he would be revealed as such, you know damn well he wouldn’t be sticking around for long. His movie career is more important than wrestling and it pays a hell of a lot more. So to the WWE, don’t have the Rock be the new GM, because the fans would have to get another new one to deal with in a very short time again anyways. If you’re going to have a GM, have it be someone that will stick around for a good long time and also not be a push over that any of the wrestlers can kick around. It needs to be someone that is authoritative and someone that garners respect from the locker room. Right now your guess would be as good as mine as far as whom it could be. I know, this could be a good discussion item for the readers out there in cyber world…have at it.

Now onto Raw and my thoughts on it…Cena started the show and talked for a good long while about what “his team” would try to do to the Nexus. Then Chris Jericho (who I believe should be the next Champion in my eyes) comes out to put his thoughts in the hat about it being “Cena’s team.” Jericho thinks it should be his team, Cena agrees cause all he wants to do is fight Nexus. It’s all for the business of the WWE not about each other individually. So we get a good 20 minutes of talking and no wrestling…I know the WWE is about entertainment, but looking at it as a whole, it would be nice to see some wrestling to start the show off, is that so much to ask on a wrestling show? It took nearly 25 minutes to have Jey Uso go against Randy Orton. Odd match up to say the least. It’s out of nowhere and quite out of left field. If you didn’t see the outcome of the match, I bet you could guess who won it. Kinda takes me back to the days of when the main eventers had jobbers to wrestle against on the shows. Course Miz came out to cash in his MITB case after Orton clobbered Sheamus, but he in turn got RKO’d himself. So I guess the Miz doesn’t cash it in again. I’m inclined to believe when Miz does cash it in, he won’t be champ for long. I like the Miz, but he doesn’t quite have World Champ written on him just yet. He has come a long way since Tough Enough that’s for sure. Edge and Khali was supposed to have taken place as a match to have Khali kicked off the Summerslam team if Edge won. Nexus came out during the match where Edge retreated and Nexus came into the ring. They let Khali leave as well…?? I’m miffed on that one. Maybe Edge wasn’t at 100% yet so they didn’t have him in a one on one match. Throw away match and time filler I suppose for the next match. Nexus vs. Raw team. (Yoshi Tatsu, Hart Dynasty, Evan Bourne, Jerry Lawler, Mark Henry, and Goldust). It was a unique match is all I can say. The crowd was into it and I guess that’s all that mattered. Evan Bourne being the last guy left in the match didn’t help his push at all when Wade Barrett finished him off with a wicked slam. The subsequent beat down of the man was all too familiar for the group. The 450 splash by Gabriel is still quite impressive. I want this group to win at Summerslam and to have this storyline move on well into Survivor Series. Why? It reminds me of when the NWO was first introduced, but it doesn’t in the same light. The WWE needed a new faction and this is it, at least until the writers of the federation screw it up, and trust me they will. (you know it to be true) For now I will watch and hope that things will be interesting for awhile.

There was a Women’s match on, not that I cared…it was barely even a filler…who cares, lets move on. I can say I didn’t miss the guest host idea tonight, I will say again, do away with it and never have it back. But I understand they will do it every other Monday for quite some time yet, ugh…Dibiase vs. Morrison is supposed to be the start of a long feud. These guys are the next generation of superstars. They have the talent and the know how in the ring. The crowd just doesn’t know it yet. They were pretty quiet for the match and that’s too bad. Using Maryse to distract is reminiscent of the past when managers were used for just that purpose. This will go on for awhile. But it looks as if R-Truth will get involved in this feud as well. Don’t be surprised if there is a triple threat match in the future for these guys. The Miz and Sheamus vs. John Cena and Chris Jericho as the main event of the night. Sure took a long time to get the match going. Whenever Jericho is in a match, I will watch it. I wasn’t disappointed. The crowd was pro Jericho as well because of all the Y2J chants. All in all the four wrestlers had a pretty strong showing this night. That back breaker that Sheamus did to Jericho looked painful as well. I was entertained if you can believe it. I loved that Jericho did the Codebreaker to Cena so that the Miz could pin him. After the match, Khali came into the ring as well as Edge, Morrison, and R-Truth. Looks as if the whole team is falling apart before Summerslam. I don’t really have a bad thing to say about this Monday’s Raw except for the Women’s match, maybe they all need to go to Superstars and never be seen on Raw ever again, I can only hope.

I missed TNA this past week, so it’s difficult to talk about it this time. But I do know Tommy Dreamer is putting his best foot forward to get as many ex-ECW guys together for the Hardcore Justice PPV. Could be good and I think it will be. Just don’t put Hogan in the mix, he doesn’t need to be there at all. If he is, it will ruin the whole damn thing and will suck eggs for sure. His time is past. If he really wants to make an impact for TNA, he needs to stay behind the scenes and not show up on the show. Well, if he does, he doesn’t need to wrestle, the leg drop finish is something that I don’t need to see anymore. Sorry I didn’t catch it, maybe next week I will be able to when it’s broadcast. And no, I don’t have TiVO either. I only have a VCR-yes I am old school.

In closing this article I have to throw in here that I saw the movie trailer to Piranha 3-D, I hope no one pays to go see this pile of crap….just saying. Also I hear the trailer to the Thor movie kicked some major butt at Comic-Con this year, I have to find this thing, if you know where to find it, give me a heads up.

That’s my 3 cents worth, til next time……
