The Truth About It is this... I think this Pay-Per-View tonight could have strong implications on how the rest of the year goes for the WWE. With that being said, the actual card sucks. There are 5 "signed" matches, so let's get to the quick predictions and then a little more opinion and commentary on the rest of the show. The Miz (C) vs. R-Truth (U.S. Title Match) This should be the last match between the two of these guys. The United States Title is a joke and that has a lot to do with the fact that title's don't mean a damn thing right now in the WWE. I do think The Miz will retain, but if they decided to elevate The Miz to the next level then R-Truth would be a good guy to hold the belt. I think that The Miz is close to budding onto the real main event scene so the U.S. Title belt is somewhat of a regression. With that being said, we know how the WWE works. Prediction: The Miz Kofi Kingston (C) vs Drew McIntyre (Intercontinental Title Match) I like Kofi to retain here given the fact that Matt Hardy is involved. I can see a DQ finish that allows McIntyre to pick up the victory but not walk out with the title. So with that I'll say... Prediction: Drew McIntyre via DQ Eve Torres (C) vs. Maryse vs. Gail Kim vs. Alicia Fox (Divas Championship Match) Yawn. I really don't care who wins this match because it doesn't really matter. I'll stick with the Champion retaining. Prediction: Eve Torres Jack Swagger (C) vs. The Big Show vs. CM Punk vs. Rey Mysterio (World Heavyweight Championship Match) I have to say that I think Fatal 4 Way Matches are only interesting if they had a story behind them. What was the WWE thinking basing an entire PPV around them? Gimmick PPV's aren't what make money and peak interest. Personal grudges and title matches with a strong characters do. One day the WWE will realize that. This may be the most interesting match on the card because quite frankly Jack Swagger needs to retain here. In the past month though on Smackdown it seems as though he's regressed. I'd like to see Rey get the belt, but not at the expense of Swagger. He needs to develop into a top tier main eventer for the next 10 years. In all actuality any of the 4 of these guys could win, but I'm going to say Swagger retains. He dedicated this match to his "daddy" so I wonder if he'll retain. It is Father's Day so I can see him losing. I'll go with the logical choice though. Prediction: Jack Swagger John Cena (C) vs. Edge vs. Sheamus vs. Randy Orton (WWE Title Match) I don't think Orton or Edge will win so it's either Cena or Sheamus. If they really want Sheamus to look legit he needs to win a belt with a clean 1-2-3. No tables, no 4 way matches, just a clean pin preceded by a vicious beat down. I think Cena will retain here possible by the entire match being thrown out. Prediction: John Cena So that brings me to the rest of the show. With the 3 undercard matches probably taking up a combined 35 minutes and 2 4-way matches that won't go more than 20-25 minutes, there is a lot of time to make up in this PPV. I think that Kane and the NXT guys will have a strong presence on the show. Kane could interfere in the World Heavyweight Championship match and at the very least he'll be on a rampage trying to find out who put The Undertaker in his vegetative state. I'm not sure where this storyline is going, but it has come across kind of lame to this point. That could change tonight. Now for the best part of the show...NXT. This has to be the focal point of the show because nothing else can be. The build to this PPV was terrible and once again...4 way matches suck. Supposedly there will be surprises and shockers. I hope that's true. If you notice, Chris Jericho is missing from this card and that's a crime. He should be on every PPV. Nonetheless, I think he has something to do with the NXT angle. He has to. It is possible he may show his hand tonight, but maybe it will just be hints dropped. Bret Hart is supposed to have an answer to the NXT guys and if the WWE were smart the answer would be NO...at least for tonight. This angle needs to move slow and given proper time. In closing I have to say I'm not anxious for any matches tonight, but I am ready to see what else happens. This show has potential to be a stepping stone for the future. Hopefully the WWE sees what they have to work with and properly utilizes it. We'll know in a few hours, but hopefully we'll know better in the coming weeks and months ahead.
