So where does it go from here? Daniel Bryan is gone? Ugh…

I’m already losing confidence that the WWE is going to screw the “NXT takeover” angle up and then flush it down the toilet. Let me first focus on the positives since Monday.

On the season 2 premiere of NXT we saw the entire scene from Monday night (minus Justin Roberts being choked with a tie). I liked that. It made the angle seem like must see TV. The beat down of the new rookies was a little ridiculous, but I understand the concept. On Smackdown we were once again treated to the entire replay of the shenanigans from RAW (thank God for DVR.) That was also good. It certainly seems that the WWE is making this the most talked about thing in the business over the past few years. Don’t worry though it gets better.

I wake up on Saturday morning to find out that Daniel Bryan AKA Bryan Danielson has been released. Oh man, WTF? My first thought was that it was a work, but the more I thought about it and put the puzzle pieces together…Daniel Bryan has been released. It’s being said that he was released because of profanity and choking Justin Roberts with his own tie. Also spitting on John Cena could have played a role. If this is really the case then the WWE is a bigger joke then I was ever aware of. This was the first real feeling angle since I can remember and they go ahead and realize a guy who is right in the middle of it. The guy involved who is most over gets released? UGGGHHHHHHH!!!

Wrestling is becoming too politically correct. I’m not saying the envelope needs pushed, but c’mon! He choked a guy with his tie. What about chokeslamming a guy through the ring then having fire come out of the hole? How about hanging a guy from a cell like a mock lynching? (I know that was over 10 years ago, but still.) I personally liked watching Justin Roberts get choked if for no other reason then I think that he’s a douche. Daniel Bryan is way too talented for the WWE to get rid of, but then again I don’t think they care. There’s always a chance that this is a work, but I think he is currently unemployed and that is a travesty.

As far as what happens next, here’s what I don’t want to see. I don’t want Vince or Stephanie McMahon, HHH, Jim Ross, or Michael Cole behind all of this. If anyone is behind it I hope it’s Jericho. If you follow him on twitter @IAmJericho you can see some recent comments he made along the lines of being happy while watching John Cena get destroyed on RAW. Chris Jericho is a class act. He doesn’t need wrestling, but I can tell you that wrestling needs him. He has stated numerous times that he’s doing this because he wants to help the younger guys. Here is a chance for him to help 7 (or 8) younger guys and being a great teacher in the process. Will the WWE do that? Probably not.

That’s why this angle is intriguing. I really don’t have any idea what’s in store. I see a scene played out in my head for a future episode of RAW involving the NXT guys banned from the arena under any and all circumstances. It would escalate into them actually breaking an entrance down to get into the arena. Maybe busting glass or running over something with heavy machinery? I’m not sure. I love the idea of total destruction and I hope it continues. I’ve seen the WWE blow a lot of money on things they’ve destroyed over the years and now is the time to really amp it up.

This angle is going to shape wrestling for a while and hopefully they’ve got a plan. If they don’t, good luck for the booking team because those RAW ratings will be dipping into the 2.0’s. I lost confidence today with the release of Daniel Bryan, but this can still be executed properly. I’m ready for RAW on Monday with an open mind…hopefully the WWE doesn’t close it with one show.
