 The Truth About It...

THIS is why I LOVE Pro Wrestling! It’s going to be hard for me to put into words in a few paragraphs how I felt about RAW last night, but this is what I (and most fans) have been waiting for!

From 8 PM-10:50 PM RAW was terrible. It was so terrible that I shut it off right before the Matt Hardy vs. Drew McIntyre match and went to bed figuring I could pain myself watching it on Tuesday afternoon via DVR. BIG MISTAKE! You know what though, I don’t regret it. I just hope the more casual fans were able to stick with it to see what could possibly be the BIGGEST ANGLE in years!

The “NXT takeover” was perfect and there is no other way to describe it. Who saw it coming? NO ONE. See, there is a surprise element in wrestling that sometimes seems overdone. It usually involves a legend returning or constant title changes just to spike a buy rate or gain a point in the rating. Last night it meant something. It was a surprise done by rookies who spent the last 15 weeks getting buried on WWE Television. This wasn’t something anyone thought about, there were no internet rumblings…nothing. I saw something with WWE TV last night from 10:50-11:05 and that was passion, determination, and focus. SCREW THE SKITS! SCREW THE GUEST HOSTS! SCREW THE COMEDY! It is all GARBAGE! I don’t watch wrestling for poor acting and ridiculously terrible segments. I watch wrestling for moments like the “NXT takeover!”

I want to point a few things out. First, Wade Barrett is going to be the WWE Champion and he will bring credibility to that Title. I can’t pinpoint what it was right now, but he had a look and a swagger to him as he walked down the ramp and led the other NXT guys into the ring. It was something I haven’t seen in a long while. He looked real, he looked focused, he looked like a superstar, he looked like a cut above the rest and he looked like someone who is going to do HUGE things for the WWE. That was great to see. He was the leader of the pack. It was as if he was the “Don” of the Mafia and his boys were doing his jobs. This is going to be great to see. WADE BARRETT is BIG TIME!

How about Michael Tarver? The dude looked like he was committing armed robbery while he pistol whipped the wife and kids. THAT is what I want to see! He looked mean, he looked violent, and he looked downright scary. That’s a great thing for the WWE and the fans.

Skip Sheffield looked like a ticking time bomb. Daniel Bryan choking Justin Roberts will be in my mind for a long time. David Otunga planting the referee with a sucker punch before they ganged up on Cena was excellent. Heath Slater doing the dirty work along with Darren Young was very well done. I really just can’t say enough about what I watched.

The fact that they tore the entire ringside area apart while absolutely destroying Striker, King, Roberts, Mark Yeaton, Punk, Gallows, and especially Cena tells me this is for real. It literally looked like a Mafia in that ring and it was the best thing I’ve seen on WWE TV in years. Where they go from here is anyone’s guess. I hope it continues and gets even better. I hope that all 8 of these guys are used to their fullest potential because every one of them showed something last night on RAW. I am watching NXT tonight and I can’t wait for Smackdown and especially RAW next week. I’m interested to see what goes down with the WWE “pros” locker room and also Michael Cole. I’m sure everyone noticed he fled the scene. Time will tell what the results will be, but I’m excited with what I saw. I can’t wait to see what happens next…and THAT is why we all watch wrestling folks, to see what happens next. This is a big angle and could quite possibly be a huge moment for the WWE. It needs to be done right and unlike the 2001 “invasion” I’m hoping it is. WATCH NXT TONIGHT!
