Welcome to The Truth About It…I’ve been on hiatus for a few weeks. I was busy with work and also wasting my life away on Miami Beach, but I’m back now. Instead of a normal column focusing on one or two things in particular, I’m going to mention several things and add my thoughts. There is no timely order to this so here it goes. I actually had high hopes for Over the Limit. Contrary to a lot of internet reporters and bloggers opinions, I thought it was booked fairly decent. There were no throw-in matches, each match had somewhat of a story behind them, and it wasn’t too “gimmicky”. With that said, ehhhh…it was tough to watch after the Tag Team Title Match. Rey vs. Punk was the best match hands down and I STILL HATE JOHN CENA. Bret Hart as GM? Well, it’s okay I guess. I’m anxious to see where this goes, but once again I don’t have high hopes. He shouldn’t have won the US Title and for that matter he shouldn’t have “wrestled” The Miz to begin with. How great is/was Batista’s character development since January? And think…he lost to Cena, count ‘em 1…2…3 times! That was some shoddy booking if I’ve ever seen it. I like how he always thought he deserved rematches after losing, but for God sake’s he was made out to be such a bad-ass when the feud started. He should’ve gone over at Wrestlemania. The Fatal 4 Way PPV concept is atrocious. I’m not a fan of gimmick Pay-Per-Views, but this one is really lame. Who cares if there are 4 top guys in a World Title match? There’s no background behind it. I don’t know who comes up with these ideas, but it’s stupid. That doesn’t make me want to buy a Pay-Per-View. CM Punk and Rey Mysterio’s feud is awesome. When I watch Smackdown I can’t wait to see what happens next. I can’t stress enough how much I love Punk’s character. He plays a cult leader like Slash plays a guitar. I don’t agree with him losing his hair (yet), but what’s done is done. I want to see the Straight Edge Society expand. (NOTE: I have a column on that coming up. I’ve been writing bits and pieces here and there.) Follow me on twitter @kerrpimpin Michael Cole and Daniel Bryan look good on TV. This is an intriguing feud. I hate to swirl rumors, but could we see a return of JR? Lots of references lately… Speaking of Jim Ross…the WWE desperately needs him. BAD. I used to like Matt Striker, but he isn’t very good right at the moment. Since he left ECW it’s been downhill. I don’t know what the future holds for JR, but hopefully a light will click within the WWE and they will see how valuable he really is. His voice/commentary makes me want to watch wrestling even if I’m bored with the product. Back to CM Punk for just a minute. When the crowd chanted “BORING, BORING” at Over the Limit while he was bleeding…a fire lit under Punk’s ass and that match was great from that point on. Blood is okay, really it is, just don’t overdo it and make it have meaning. I know Punk got busted open the hard way, but it really enhanced the match. Watching Rey cut Punk’s hair while his face was bloodied up was a nice touch. NXT was a bad idea. I hope there isn’t a second season. I haven’t connected with Edge since he’s been back. He hasn’t always been my favorite, but at least he was always entertaining. I don’t feel intrigued by him at the moment. I think his character fits a more risqué persona. The guest host needs to go. It has run its course, but I’m sure it’s here to stay for a while. What a joke. I hope the Tag Team division is restarted. Yes, I said restarted because throwing two wrestlers together and calling them a team is a farce. I like that there are a few actual teams right now and it seem as though there is some focus on the division. We’ll see. That’s it for today, but that was The Truth About It… Questions or comments are welcome and recommended at NFWAKerr@yahoo.com. You can always follow me on twitter @kerrpimpin …which I highly recommend also!
