The Truth About It Is… overall, the WWE had a very good week.Welcome to a Friday night edition of The Truth About It… Extreme Rules is over, so if the draft. Now all that’s left to do is talk about it. I suppose I will start with Extreme Rules. First off, if the WWE wants to re-name Pay-Per-Views, they should start with this atrocity. There was nothing “extreme” about this PPV. It had some well known gimmick matches, but other than that it was simply a solid PPV with good action with the furthering of some feuds and the culmination of others. Going down the card quickly the Tag Titles getting some love is always good to see. It set up well for RAW even though it was highly predictable. That was okay though. The Hart Dynasty has gotten a nice rub from “The Hitman” and I believe it was a good decision to put the Tag straps on them. CM Punk and Mysterio was very good in my opinion. I absolutely love CM Punk’s gimmick and can watch Rey Mysterio against anyone so this match was one I was really looking forward to. If you reference my previous column I mentioned that I would like to see the Straight Edge Society expand. I must say that the ending to that match had some very good booking. I would like to see the SES have 5 or 6 followers with CM Punk as “cult” leader. Wrestling is in need of some very good stables and if done correctly this could be a great one. I was surprised with JTG going over Shad…this feud will continue. The World Title Match was good. I’m definitely glad Swagger got the W. It pretty much ends there because there is nothing left to this feud at the current time. The Triple H and Sheamus match was booked well to. I’m not sure what you think (I’d like to hear your opinion), but I finally take Sheamus seriously as a bad ass heel. He looks like a legitimate tough guy and if I were 7 or 8 years old he’d more than likely scare me. He plays a heel so well and his mic work is very good also. The Irish accent makes him sound even meaner and legitimate if you ask me. As for the match, everything worked well. The opening of the PPV with HHH getting attacked to the actual match where Sheamus hit the big kick 4 times to put HHH away cleanly was excellent. The brutality made it look like HHH had reason to be on the shelf and it most certainly elevates Sheamus by beating “The Game.” The Women’s Title match worked for me. I was glad to see Beth Phoenix win. She should hang on to that Title for a while. I have to say I am a little disappointed with the Edge/Jericho feud. I really love Chris Jericho. I am a fan more now than I ever was in his previous run in the WWE. The Steel Cage match was very good. I really wanted to see Jericho go over, but let’s be serious…who actually thought he would win? This put an end to a feud that could have been so much more. The good thing is both men got drafted to RAW so something could be re-hashed down the road. Cena/Batista was pretty good. It’s still hard to watch these two, especially Cena. I really don’t like the guy…he’s so cheesy. When he came out for a promo on RAW Monday night I actually grimaced in embarrassment to the things he was saying. I hated the ending to this match. Last Man Standing matches are supposed to be brutal to the point where one man can’t continue. Instead Batista gets duct-taped. This feud would be so much better if Cena was still chasing Batista, but falling short (for whatever reason) until the final pay-off match. If Cena went over that way I wouldn’t have a gripe. I’m not a booker though, so this is what we have. As for RAW…it was very good. Good promos, great wrestling, and very little stupid comedy. Hopefully it’s the beginning of a trend. All I really want to touch on with RAW are the draft picks. I like what the WWE is doing and I REALLY hope it translates into something great. Basically RAW is going to be cemented as the flagship and Smackdown is going with the youth. The only RAW pick I disagreed with was R-Truth, but it could turn out well because he’s so over. The WWE booking team needs to make it a point to keep Truth and Morrison at the fore-front of RAW every Monday night. The RAW draft picks give a lot of opportunity for fresh feuds including: Orton (face)/Jericho (heel), Sheamus/Morrison, Edge/Morrison, HHH/Edge, Miz/Truth, and that’s just a few. On the Smackdown side of things, can you say Kofi Kingston, Cody Rhodes, MVP, and most importantly Christian vying for the World Heavyweight Title? Okay, so the “big names” didn’t end up on Smackdown… who cares? This is fresh, new, and gives the chance for A LOT of wrestler’s to make the jump to the next level. I prefer Smackdown to RAW right now and ALWAYS love seeing new guys get elevated, so in my opinion this is a very good thing all across the board. That’s it for tonight…I will have a new column out tomorrow (Saturday) or Sunday. It will be good so don’t miss it. I’d love to hear your feedback via e-mail at NFWAKerr@yahoo.com. Also, please follow me on Twitter @kerrpimpin. I can’t wait to hear your feedback. Until tomorrow that was The Truth About It…
