A Returning Hart, TNA Ends The New Year With A Bang.Hello wrestling fans and welcome to another edition of the whole scoop. This week I'm going to talk about a return of one Bret “the hitman” Hart, a return that most thought would probably never happen after the infamous Survivor Series 1998 event in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. On top of that I will briefly talk about the first ever head to head alternation of WWE Monday Night Raw versus TNA Impact and my analysis on TNA's Final Resolution pay per view this past Sunday. After years and years of wondering if it were ever possible, the surprising announcement has recently been leaked throughout internet that former WWE champion and superstar Bret Hart has signed a contract with the WWE. The last time we saw Bret “The Hitman” Hart in a WWE ring was the controversial 1997 Survivor Series event which was labeled “the screw job”. For whomever may not know the whole story on that, you'll have to look it up. The fact is since the infamous Montreal incident many had thought or figured that the Hitman coming back to wrestling let alone the WWE was something that would never happen again. However I guess the term “never say never” is of great relevance when it comes to this situation. There are no details on when exactly Hart will indeed return, but it has been confirmed that he has signed a short term deal with World Wrestling Entertainment. Bret Hart has been and will surely go down in history as one of the greatest wrestlers of all time and no doubtingly one of the best heavyweight champions to ever step foot in a squared circle. To any fan who has followed the respectful career of Bret Hart, this has to be one of the most surprising, yet exciting moments possibly in the history of wrestling. Whether you liked the in ring character, wrestler or person himself in Bret Hart, there can be one thing that no one can ever deny and that is Bret Hart was and will surely go down as one of the greatest technical wrestlers of all time. Bret is recognized and respected by many fans as well as most wrestlers present and past for everything stated above. So with everything being said above the long awaited return of one Hitman is going to happen and its going to be great to see a true legend back in front of a large wrestling audience. There is no question that a high majority of fans who watched wrestling than and even now, know who Hart is, know how good he was and will be happy to see him back. Among that Bret's last time in a WWE ring was a moment that many, including himself wouldn't want to remember as his last. With that being said, this is Bret's chance to give himself closure on his WWE career and as well as his fans closure that is truly one worthy of great remembrance. Moving on I would like to change the topic to TNA's last pay per view of the year in Final Resolution, what it delivered, didn't and the impression the show left leading into a brand new year. This past Sunday's pay per view I thought one was one of the better wrestling shows that I have seen probably within this whole year of wrestling. I am not saying that this was a stellar pay per view or that it delivered in every area that it needed to, because that would be a lie. The fact is there was some very good, some good and some things that it could have gone without. Reflecting on my comments, here is my analysis. Firstly the Feast or Fired: The idea of the match was there's 4 briefcases containing of a tag team title shot, a world title shot, a x division title shot and the final briefcase containing of a pink slip(meaning whoever gets that case is fired). Once you retrieve a briefcase your out of the match and your fate will be determined when the match is over and everyone opens their briefcase to display their results. This was a gimmick match that I think was not necessary what so ever to even be on the pay per view. The concept itself was just too much and a wrestler should gain an opportunity at a title shot, not out of shear luck of what briefcase he gets, but because they have earned it. The truth any one could have got the “your fired” briefcase and whether or not someone getting fired on television is legit or isn't, it really isn't something I think that should have been done. Nash getting a tag title is fine he was in a tag team for most of his career so it could work, Joe getting a world title shot is great, because Samoa Joe is a great wrestler who is a convincing/worthy challenger for the title. But Rob Terry receiving an X division title shot makes no sense, for he is not a X division wrestler and surely does not fit the style. I'm hoping TNA is going somewhere with that, which does not involve him actually being a big part of the division, because it will be a future wasted moment. Lashley vs Steiner: I didn't really expect much of this much as I'm not a particular big fan of either, as well as don't view either one as good in ring entertainers. However it actually ended being a good filler on the show and was descent as far as being entertaining. Did I actually see Steiner do a huricanrana from the top rope?. ODB(womens champ) vs (challenger) Tara: I've never been a huge fan of women wrestling, but I understand why it's on the show. There are women wrestler's who are very athletic and talented in the ring, so they deserve the chance to compete in the ring. I can appreciate wrestling for good wrestling no matter who is he in the ring and this match was a good match. What I don't particularly like about having women on a wrestling show is if they are just there for eye candy and can't wrestle, because you can get eye candy on many shows on television or on the internet if you really want to see it. Wrestling should be about wrestling and I will say that TNA actually puts on good women wrestling matches and they don't base the women on the show mainly as sex objects, they are there to wrestle. Why can't a girl be attractive without having to be displayed as a sex object?, and be attractive for being a good athlete. I appreciate that TNA actually builds their women mostly around wrestling and puts on good wrestling matches, while the WWE more so portrays gals as sex objects with few good women matches. I think all around TNA has better women wrestler's and puts on better matches with them, this was a pretty solid women's match none the less. Abyss and Foley vs Raven and Stevie Richards: Wasn't great, wasn't bad, was just a descent match. It was nothing we haven't seen before which is why I'm not going give it very much praise. I really like Abyss, but they seem to base him only around hardcore/anything goes matches and I think he should be more than that, other than being used as a one track wrestler. All in all still a descent addition to the card. Jesse Neal, Rhino and Team 3D vs Suicide, Deangelo Dinero, Hernandez and Matt Morgan: Eight man tags I find to always be just a bit too much to follow some times, so I'm not really a fan. Regardless, I thought this match was full of good action with most of the focus being put around Hernandez and Matt Morgan. Morgan was the one to stand tall in the end and took the spotlight of this match, which I think it a good idea, because he has a lot of potential and after a great match at Bound for Glory with Angle he proved that he can hold his own in a ring. Good match, with pretty good action with the right team winning as I believe the whole team is deserving of future pushes and build up. As far as the other guys go Rhino and Jesse Neal honestly bore me, I think Neal tries to hard and looks bad doing it and Rhino is being badly booked, but is also past his time of truly offering a lot to the company. In my opinion Team 3D is also not nearly what they used to be, but still have some what of a legendary past as a tag team and some star power that can help build and put over younger, such as Hernandez and Morgan. The British Invasion(tag champions) vs (challengers) The Motor City Machine Guns: Good tag team match with a lot of good action. The Machine Guns show me every time they wrestle how good they are and honestly how deserving they are of being the tag champs. The British Invasion did their part of helping put on a good match, but the real heroes are Shelley and Sabin. They remind of a young DX funny and talented. I was hoping they'd win as I think they'd be the perfect team to carry the belts into the new year, all in all good match. Angle vs Desmond Wolfe: This was one of the two matches that defined this whole pay per view. To me this was a match that displayed exactly what wrestling should be, because we saw just about everything from stand up fighting, to mat wrestling and some good all around wrestling moves. Angle showed that he still has quite a bit left, while Wolfe showed without a doubt that he is one of TNA's future rising stars. 5 star match, done almost to perfection with the finish leaving both men looking very good in the end. AJ Styles(tna champion) vs (challenger) Christopher Daniels: This match had a good story going in, with the jealous/envious friend Daniels angry at not getting his chance and trying to claim the title as he finally gets that chance. The match was a great follow up to the Angle/Wolfe match providing us with some good high flying action, some mat wrestling as well, but mainly just fast paced wrestling that is always enjoyable and belongs in wrestling today. Without a doubt these two are two of TNA's better wrestler's and they did nothing short of showing it. Not as good as Angle vs Wolfe, but not far behind as being just as exciting, I give it 4 stars. Impact vs Raw on January 4th: TNA is now heading into the new year after producing a pretty solid pay per view with two “what wrestling should be main events”, thus heading into the new year with a ton of momentum to build on. But the real question is can they capitalize on it?, or will they?. Hogan coming in will draw ratings there is no doubt in my mind, Hogan is Hogan and a true icon in wrestling that just lures fans in where ever he goes. According to sources there are rumors that Scott Hall has signed, as well a good possibility of Syxx Pac “Sean Waltman” returning. This is a reporting possibility of a reformation of one of the most famous groups of all time, the N.W.O. However WWE owns the right to that specific name, so it will be have to be named something else. None the less we could see the return of the famous group. So what does this mean? It's means that TNA will bring in some star power that will probably initially draw some old time wrestling fans who either still watch or stopped watching wrestling and will tune in to check it out either way. There is no doubt in my mind that this can be a good thing for TNA attracting old fans and possibly even new ones, however does it result in long term success in the biggest scenario with all the returns of these established stars? If these guys come into to steal all the spotlight and cause younger stars that TNA needs to build for the future to take a backseat, it will be long term damaging to the company. If they come and are used to help build younger stars for the future and actually pass the torch to deserving wrestler's who can once again make wrestling, “wrestling” , things will take a positive spin. The fact WCW died because of failure to create new stars and use them to provide a quality matches, the older less talented in ring athletes had all the spotlight and it destroyed the company. If Hall, Nash, Syxx Pac and Hogan take all the spotlight for themselves TNA will have a good possibility of turning out like WCW did. Moving on there have also been reports of RVD returning and possibly joining TNA on this night. Rob Van Dam has always been a phenomenal athlete and great in ring performer, if he's still as good today as he was when he left wrestling or relatively close, he will have a ton to bring to the company. Among Hall, Hogan and Syxx Pac he will bring in some extra star power, only he is younger and has a lot to bring to the ring. Can anyone imagine a RVD vs AJ Styles match? It would surely be a hit in my opinion and there are plenty of wrestler's that Rob can have good matches with and bring to another level. RVD would be a great addition to TNA. With everything being said in reference to the altercation of Impact vs Raw, TNA has a chance in 2010 to bring forth a wrestling show that is worth watching and that fans have been wanting to see for a long time. They have the talent to put on great matches and build young stars, if they can do that heading into the new year they can build on momentum. However if they don't because they fail to build younger stars without using their chance of using older established stars to build them, they will gain short term ratings boosts, but in the end be where they are now or possibly doing even worse. TNA has ended the year on a great note and has a ton of potential and momentum heading into a brand new one, while WWE does not. The WWE in recent weeks in particular have put on some lackluster television shows barely worth watching, some may say not even worth watching. The complaints have flooded the internet and fan reaction has been made clear that the last few weeks the WWE have produced awful wrestling shows that have just disgusted or angered viewers.(most reports from PWTORCH.COM). So on that note TNA has the chance to use the momentum to their advantage and use it to maybe steal some loyal WWE viewers and draw them into their product. Now is the time they need to produce quality wrestling shows and cease their opportunity. For the sake of wrestling once again becoming a highly entertaining weekly program, I hope this is exactly what happens. For a war among companies can only make both shows have to bring forth a good program, otherwise the ratings of the other will continue to or drop. Impact vs Raw on January first will be the first head to head altercation of both companies biggest wrestling show on TV and it should an interesting, exciting night. Will Impact beat Raw?, will they draw close in ratings?, or will they not even come close?. That is really a question that remains to be seen and makes January 4th all that more exciting. Personally I believe that there is no chance on this night that TNA will beat Raw its too early and I don't think they are close to being established enough to do so. I do think that there's a chance of coming fairly close, but either way they will still more than likely fall short. WWE is much more well known and established and it will take a lot more than TNA having one good night to give them a run for their money, it will take at least a year of great work and quality wrestling programs. I think this will be the time when TNA does indeed draw their highest rating ever and maybe even close a 2.0 or high 1 point rating, but anything more would an extreme shock. Time will tell, there's always dreaming wrestling fans that competition could be a thing of the future and once again bring forth wrestling programs that are must watch TV, we can only hope....... Thanks for reading this week's edition of the whole scoop Have a great Christmas and Happy New Year!!
