Dragon's Corner-Night of Champions Results and other things

Why is it that the articles seem few and far between here on TWNP? I have to believe it’s the summertime and no one has deemed it necessary to write anything. Or maybe it would help if there was something worth writing about in the world of wrestling today. Some writers probably see how poorly pro wrestling is doing with storylines and other actions and just don’t want to waste their time writing about things that just aren’t there. I am not one of those writers, I will try to write something once a week, at the least that is. Now I admit there isn’t a whole lot to talk about in the storyline department as of late, but anything is better then nothing I suppose. So here goes:

The Raw Draft and Supplemental Draft on WWE.com is now complete and here are the complete lists for the following stars that were drafted to their respective brands:

RAW:
Batista, Rey Mysterio, CM Punk, Kane, Michael Cole, Kofi Kingston, Layla, Matt Striker, Chuck Palumbo, Deuce and Jamie Noble.

SMACKDOWN:
Jeff Hardy, Umaga, Ken Kennedy, Jim Ross, HHH, Carlito, Shelton Benjamin, Maria, Brian Kendrick, DH Smith, Big Daddy V and Trevor Murdoch.

ECW:
Matt Hardy, Super Crazy, Mark Henry, Hornswoggle, and Finlay.

This means that London & Kendrick and Deuce & Domino are no longer teaming. So yet again according to my count, 4 tag teams have been broken up so far (as you recall Cade and Murdoch were broken up not so long ago and with Carlito going to Smackdown, he and Marella won’t tag either imagine that. I suppose Carlito might be happy at Smackdown because there is generally less politicking there (although HHH is there so I doubt he is any better off) don’t be surprised if Carlito just gets pi**ed off enough and walks out on the WWE soon.

What will happen this summer with this Mr. McMahon “accident” storyline? You will recall a year ago he “died” when his limo blew up. But that didn’t go anywhere because of the Benoit incident. Fast-forward a year later and he is trying something new. Who do they have that will be the perpetrator of this accident? I would almost say the Warrior, but I’m sure his services for a fourth time wouldn’t be too welcome by McMahon, but weirder things have happened in the WWE, they brought back Hogan countless times, why not the Warrior? I hear his match in Spain wasn’t so bad on the 28th so that might help things along. Now before you readers bombard me with e-mails saying things about the Warrior and how bad he was in his prior returns, I am quite aware of this fact. I am just throwing a name out in the wind, but you have to admit it would bring up a lot of controversy if it was him and we know McMahon likes to rock the boat.

I hear the storyline between Edge and Vickie might be coming to an end soon. The rumor is that the wedding planner would be caught cheating with Edge and thus end the wedding and the relationship between Edge and Vickie. Or the Undertaker might come into the picture at the time of the wedding and disrupt it and announce something surprising. But with all things in wrestling this too might change. Have to wait and see how this plays out. Now here’s the rundown of what happened at Night of Champions:

It was no real big surprise that Cody Rhodes turned on Holly at Night of Champions and was the secret partner of Dibiase. I would rather see a heel Rhodes with the belt then what I have been seeing as of late. Dibiase and Rhodes new tag team champions and poor old Holly with nothing-oh well, I didn’t really like Holly anyways. Am I being too biased with this? I suppose I am.

Mark Henry is now the ECW Champion, ugh…I don’t know about you but I don’t want to see this for very long. As I’ve said about the guy, he can’t wrestle his way out of a wet paperbag with it ripped down the middle. Horrible choice for a champ.

Kobi Kingston is the new Intercontinental Champion as well. Have to see how this young man does. I will hold judgment as to whether this was a good idea or not.

At least the strap stayed on Matt Hardy’s waist. I’m not saying that Chavo is a bad wrestler, I just think that Matt needs the belt for awhile, so I am glad they did just that.

Mickie James retained the Women’s Championship. It was painful watching the match and the crowd died out, so it looks as if Katie Burchill needs some work before she will get the chance again. Oh well, she’s young.

The Miz and Morrison retained against Hornswoggle and Finlay as well.

Edge held on to his title, so Batista goes to Raw without the strap. I can’t imagine why the writers love Edge so much to let him keep the title. But with Undertaker coming back at some point, it would make sense for him to keep the thing.

Last match of the night was Cena Vs. HHH for the umpteenth time. Did I even care who the winner was of this match? No I didn’t, but here it is-HHH. Did you actually believe that he would lose to Cena? Ha, not for a minute would they have made HHH lose to John. Not with HHH off to Smackdown and having the show moving to a new Network in the fall, which is as a matter of fact-MyNetworkTV. They moved HHH cause he’s the big shooter and having Jim Ross there will help out the play by play immensely. One more thing, Did Cena get hurt? Or is it a work? Tune in to Raw to find out.

That’s my 3 cents worth, til next time....
