Dragon's Corner: One Night Stand Cometh

I suppose the WWE had to “fire” William Regal considering the man is now suspended for the next 60 days, another wrestler busted for the violation of the wellness policy. I just don’t get it, he was getting his push to a major heel and now he’s gone. More then likely any push for Regal in the future is gone. He had his chance and he blew it just as many others have in the past. Near as I can recall Kennedy was on his way to a major push and he got busted, Jeff Hardy was more then likely going to win the “Money in the Bank” to get his title chance and he blew it, now William Regal has blown his chance to get his name in the books. Stupid, stupid, stupid. Maybe he should be stripped of being the King in the Ring champ as well. Have a mini tournament with the top eight again and crown a different King. I think it’s only fair for the most deserved wrestler to get his chance to show what he is made of. It would also show Regal that the WWE will move on without him. Why should they wait for his 60 day suspension to come to an end to reintroduce him as the King again? Move on I say, move on.

It’s interesting to note that Jeff Hardy hasn’t missed a step since his return to the ring. Someone in WWE must like him because most other men in his situation would have jobbed to quite a few guys as punishment to what he did. He better not mess up again because according to the wellness policy, if he does, he’s gone for good. He’s quite a talent to say the least and it would utterly suck if he’s forever gone. Only time will tell I suppose.

We are seeing a lot of interbrand matches lately. It would seem as if that is the only way to try to get ratings back up for all the shows. It might be a good idea, but in the long run if they don’t have decent storylines and decent wrestlers going against one another, nothing they do will help. They shouldn’t even call the three shows by the different names anymore. Why should they? ECW sure as he*l isn’t anything like it should be, Extreme. Smackdown isn’t really smacking anything except our heads in wonder as to why we watch it. Raw, what’s raw about it anyway? No attitude, no on the edge wrestling stories, nothing to get excited about except WCW endings-yes I am being sarcastic.

What is anyone’s motivation to want to watch these shows during the summer? That my dear reader is a very good question. I understand that Judgment Day was just kinda thrown together and many fans were very disappointed in the show. Now WWE is gearing up for “One Night Stand” a show that had introduced ECW to many people that never heard of it before. Well, we all know, it sure as heck won’t just be an ECW brand pay per view. Why would Vince do that? He’s already buried the brand so far into the sand that you wouldn’t be able to find it with a map a compass and GPS. So I suppose you can say he may as well bury it even more, that’s Vince’s way.

More promotion is being done by the federation in the form of being on Jimmy Kimmel Live and to have Cousin Sal wrestle against Santino at One Night Stand, who cares. I don’t even watch Jimmy Kimmel and I am sure a lot of others don’t as well, so this match isn’t too interesting to me. But if it helps to promote the federation on late night, go for it it can't hurt.

HHH versus Orton in a Last Man Standing match and Cena versus JBL in a First Blood Match and Jeff Hardy versus Umaga in a falls count anywhere match, whatever. All of these guys have wrestled at least a dozen times before against one another and I for one am ready for a change. But Vince has the final say in things, so he is thinking this is what the fans want. I am thinking they don’t. All the listed matches are gimmick matches, not a one is a straight on match, wonderful.

Summer is just around the corner, what will we have to look forward to then? Hopefully nothing with Khali in it, this guy can’t wrestle to save his life. He has 12 moves at best. He’s in the WWE because he’s big that's the only reason he's there. "Hey, you’re big, come wrestle for me, can’t wrestle? Who cares, the fans won’t notice..."

That’s my 3 cents worth, til next time….
