I would like to congratulate CM Punk on becoming the next Champion in the WWE. No, he hasn’t won anything yet, but he might as well have. On the three occasions that a wrestler has cashed in his Money in the Bank match, that wrestler has become champion (Edge, RVD and Edge again). So that leads to the question: Is there any doubt in anyone’s mind that CM Punk is going to win a Championship when he cashes in? No doubt in my mind. I would bet money on it if I could. While I don’t know which title he’ll win, the speculation of how and when is intriguing to me. Because he hinted at cashing it in during that promo with Kane, I fully expect that to happen at Judgement Day.That being said, it would be incredibly ridiculous if he cashed it in for a shot at the ECW title. I’m sorry, I loved the original ECW, but the current brand is so different that it shouldn’t be named “ECW”, and to me the ECW title is no more than a resurrected Hardcore Title. Also, Kane is too big for CM Punk to use the GTS.
That leaves RAW or Smackdown.
Let’s examine RAW first. There is no way, and the Mulch means… NO WAY… that HHH would agree to drop the title to CM Punk, even after being beaten and battered against Randy Orton. So that would mean that Randy Orton would have to win the match and then lose to CM Punk. I think Orton is fantastic in his current role and I actually hope he beats HHH and the two continue their feud for a while. Long, bitter feuds don’t exist much in the WWE anymore, as they’re always trying to keep our interest. However, if it’s done with wrestlers who have great chemistry and work well together, I think it can still be effective. An ironman match between Orton and HHH would be cool.
Let’s take a look at Smackdown. Again, Undertaker is too big for the GTS, so I think Edge is going to defeat the Undertaker somehow. Since nobody is the champ, Edge simply needs to win via DQ or count-out. Then CM Punk will cash in and defeat Edge, probably with some help from the Undertaker.
Anyway, should be a good show.
