Dragon's Corner: Heading into Judgment

I was given a lot of grief by readers when I had commented that the WWE should have Cena go against JBL in a program again and guess what they have done? Judgment Day with JBL vs. Cena. The grief I received was I had forgotten that the two had wrestled each other a few years ago for the title. Maybe the WWE has forgotten that as well if they are once again doing a program between the two. Seeing as how the ratings are the lowest in WWE history, they are probably doing this to see if they can regain the ratings that they once had in the past. I’m not trying to back these boneheads up at all but I have to assume they want to regain the glory days and are trying anything that they can to do that. I just don’t think having Cena and JBL is a bright idea without a reason to do it. Back when they went against one another it was for the title, now it’s for who knows what.

Wow, the WWE actually had a Tag Team Championship take place on Raw. It helped to have Roddy Piper there to make anyone care about the thing. Why would anyone care about the belts when we really haven’t seen them in so long? Another match I didn’t care for. But it does look as if Santino and Piper could go at it down the line. At Judgment Day maybe, but then again probably not.

I’m trying to figure out what the WWE is doing with Shawn Michaels and his leg thing. I can’t tell if they want to turn him heel as he goes against Chris Jericho or if they are turning Jericho heel because he doesn’t believe Michaels with anything that he says. Either way I don’t really care. If they can put on a decent match at Judgment Day, that’s all that matters.

Jeff Hardy returned to Raw and had a very fast match against Umaga. I had thought when he returned he would have to lose to his opponent to show that what he did wasn’t accepted by the WWE. I was wrong. The crowd exploded like a nuclear warhead impact into the earth. Unbelievable response is my reaction-it was as if he never left. I guess the crowd still loves him and no matter what he has done, they forgive him. I can forgive as well, but if he messes up one more time he is gone, gone, gone.

I just have no words for what they are doing with Murdoch and Cade. It was no surprise that they were going to split the two up and now Cade punched Murdoch on Raw to seal the deal to split them up. Imagine that, another tag team going away. How many can predict that this will not work out and they will be a team again in less then a year and a half? Neither Cade nor Murdoch are more then mid carders and to split them up is, needless to say, a horrible idea.

Cena versus Orton on Raw. Yawn…I just couldn’t get into this match only because I knew from the get go that it was going to be a throw away match, first the crowd was cheering Cena, then booing him. It was a back and forth “Lets go Cena, Lets go Orton” chant in the building. I don’t think anyone knows what they want out of the man. Oh boy JBL as a ref when we come back from commercial. JBL does a quick kick to the gut of Cena which means Orton pins Cena and Cena gets beat up. HHH to the ring for the save to fight Orton…in a steel cage..which didn’t really turn into anything...another classic WCW ending to the match and to the night. No wonder their ratings are in the crapper. I’m glad I taped this show so I could fast forward through it and not waste a lot of time on it.

Oh, I suppose I could render my opinion on the match that will take place between Orton and HHH in a steel cage match at Judgment Day. Hmmm, the money goes to HHH, duh.

Torrie Wilson is no longer working for the WWE, she had been out with an injury since November of 2007 and I guess because she wasn’t able to get healed in a timely manner she was let go. I wish you luck in your next ventures Torrie. Trust me, you are probably better off without the WWE anyways.

Ultimate Warrior TV is on an internet line near you. It looks as if the Warrior is very serious about this return in June and with a guy that is going to be 49 years old I hope he delivers the goods. I always liked the guy when I was growing up. But I can also say I hated his return in WCW with the O.W.N idea-that was a horrible storyline and an even worse match against Hogan, what will this return show us? Will it be worth watching over the course of the next 50 days as he trains and then has his match? I’m going to give the guy a chance only because there isn’t anything else of interest in wrestling to get excited about right now.

That’s my 3 cents worth, til next time…
